Speegle Construction, Inc. and STOA Architects Awarded Prestigious LEED® Green Building Certification
(Niceville, Florida)-Speegle Construction, Inc. and STOA Architects announced their project “Design-Build FY-08 SOF Combat Weather Operations Facility” at Hurlburt Field has been awarded LEED® Gold established by the U.S. Green Building Council and certified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).  LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. This is exciting news for Speegle Construction as this is the FIRST facility at Hurlburt Field to achieve LEED Gold.

Combat Weather Operations Facility was scheduled to be constructed to meet LEED® Silver standards. However, Speegle and STOA recognized an opportunity to exceed the contract requirements not only by providing Hurlburt Field its first LEED® Certified Gold facility, but it’s very first LEED® Certified facility.

Design-Build FY-08 SOF Combat Weather Operations Facility achieved LEED® Gold certification for alternative transportation provisions, efficient water use, managing materials and resources efficiently as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. By using less energy and water, LEED® certified buildings save monies for families, businesses and taxpayers; reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community.
